'Scandal' star wins GLAAD Media Awards


Kerry Washington has been honoured with an
award for supporting the LGBT community at
the 26th edition of the GLAAD Media Awards.
The Scandal star joined other honorees of the
GLAAD 's Los Angeles edition of the 26th annual
Media Awards ceremony, which held on
Saturday March 21, 2015 at the Beverly Hilton .
Washington received the Vanguard Award for
supporting the LGBT community from
comedienne cum show host, Ellen DeGeneres
who presented the prize.
Other honorees include Independence Day
director, Roland Emmerich, who picked up the
Stephen F. Kolzak Award from presenter
Channing Tatum, ABC 's How to Get Away With
Murder won outstanding drama series, Amazon 's
Transparent picked up the prize for outstanding
comedy series and The Imitation Game was
selected in the outstanding film category.
HBO's The Normal Heart , Days of Our Lives ,
Against Me! were also honorees at the award
ceremony.
According to the organizers, the New York leg of
the awards ceremony takes place May 9,2015 at
the Waldorf Astoria, New York.
